About the Research
Public discourse in Europe and beyond frames AI as both promise and peril.
Somewhere between,
warnings from thoughtful world leaders on the threat of ‘AI slop’ and ‘AI rot’,
the hope of me losing 15 (lbs.), and,
the passionate academic community AI debate on cheating and legitimacy,
These tensions settle us into a gap worth researching.
The Aim
‘How do I actually navigate my self–improvement goal in conjunction with AI?’
To explore and document how Human – GenAI interactions develop into routinized, Human-AI assemblage digital practices, both at the Human-GenAI, and broader digital Communities of Practice realms.
Key Concepts
Self-Improvement Practice Cycles (SIPC) are human centered, GenAI supported routines that begin with an evaluation of the self, usually in the context of social community and knowing the goal of ‘Who I want to be’. We then negotiate through the ‘doing’ enacting strategies to achieve goals, evaluate and assess results, adjust strategies, breath (hopefully), and repeat.)
Our human user-GenAI coach prompt routines are further complemented by digital archives of knowledge, and systems of accountability, support, and legitimacy through Communities of Practice (CoP). They overlap to form the ‘Three Spheres of ‘Knowing’- a dynamic Knowledge Base.
